Former Wales, British and Irish Lions and Scarlets centre Jonathan Davies has introduced his retirement from skilled rugby.

The 36-year-old, who gained 96 caps for Wales, left Scarlets on the finish of the 2023-24 season having scored 55 tries in 209 appearances throughout two spells for the Welsh area.

‘After taking time away from the sport following the top of my final season with the Scarlets, I’ve come to the choice to name time on my skilled rugby profession,’ Davies wrote on Instagram.

‘I’ve loved a break and a summer time at dwelling with my household, and been fortunate sufficient to spend high quality time with my new child son, alongside my spouse, as we embark on this new chapter collectively as dad and mom.

‘I’ll inevitably miss the camaraderie of coaching and enjoying competitively alongside my team-mates, however over these previous few months I’ve been capable of assess all of my choices and mirror on a profession of which I’m extremely proud.’

Davies gained two Grand Slams with Wales and performed six Exams on two excursions with the British and Irish Lions, in Australia in 2013 and New Zealand in 2017.

He was voted participant of the sequence towards the All Blacks by his Lions team-mates.

‘It has been an unimaginable trip, with two Lions excursions, two Grand Slams, and the Professional 12 title to call a number of,’ Davies added.

‘I’ve been fortunate sufficient to play the sport professionally for 18 years, dedicating all the things I’ve to being the most effective rugby participant I might be. I now sit up for what the following 18 will carry, as a father, a husband, and in my subsequent skilled chapter.’
