The sensationally quick turf sprinter Cogburn tallied his third graded stakes victory of the season Sept. 7 when taking the Ainsworth Turf Dash Stakes (G2T) at Kentucky Downs. The win was rewarded by the members of the nationwide media who vote on the Nationwide Thoroughbred Racing Affiliation’s Prime Thoroughbred ballot as he joined the Prime 10 in fifth place.
Making his first begin for the reason that June 8 Jaipur Stakes (G1T), the place he set what’s believed to be a 5 1/2-furlong world file in :59.80, the son of Not This Time  didn’t disappoint going six furlongs Saturday, profitable by 3 1/4 lengths whereas ending simply 0.27 seconds off the course file.
Owned by Clark Brewster and William and Corinne Heiligbrodt and educated by Steve Asmussen, Cogburn is an ideal 3-for-3 in 2024 with earnings of $1,793,700. Via his success, he has conquered two Breeders’ Cup Problem Sequence races on his path to the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Dash (G1T) at Del Mar Nov. 2.
Taylor Made stallion Not This Time can also be the sire of the opposite Prime 10 addition to this week’s ballot as prime marathoner Subsequent rose from twelfth to tenth forward of the Sept. 21 Greenwood Cup (G3) at Parx Racing. Cogburn and Subsequent are the one members of the Prime 10 to carry good information in 2024.
