Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Katie Robinson on a free switch from WSL rivals Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 21-year-old ahead left the Seagulls when her contract ended final month and and now joins Villa as a free agent. Robinson had been with Brighton since 2020 and had a short mortgage spell at Charlton Athletic two years later after an ACL damage initially hindered the teenager’s progress.
Upon her return to Brighton, Robinson hit the bottom working within the 2022/23 marketing campaign and acquired her first senior England call-up in November 2022. At worldwide stage, she now has 5 senior caps to her identify and she or he was the youngest member of England’s World Cup squad in 2023.
Throughout her time with Brighton, Robinson made 68 appearances throughout all competitions and scored ten targets in that point. She was named their 2022/23 younger participant of the season. However, amid competitors for attacking locations, there was no senior England call-up since final September.
Villa’s new supervisor Robert de Pauw advised the membership web site: “I’ve identified Katie since I used to be head coach of the [Netherlands] U17. She performed as a winger towards my workforce and brought about a variety of difficulties.
“She has tempo and is aware of make use of her qualities. She needs so as to add to her 5 worldwide caps and needs to make the following step with us.Â
“Her ambition, to develop into higher, matches ours. I imagine she is a participant who could be a difference-maker in video games, and I very a lot look ahead to what she is going to convey to Aston Villa Ladies.”
Robinson arrives at Villa following Alisha Lehmann’s departure to Juventus. The 25-year-old Swiss ahead left the membership earlier this summer time after three years in claret and blue.
