Poirer vs. Hooker 2? YES PLEASE!
Again in June 2020, when the world was on the peak of a world pandemic, Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker went to warfare for 5 rounds in a Battle of the Yr candidate. Poirier received the epic combat through unanimous choice (watch highlights).
Since that combat, their careers have taken insane ups and downs, from huge wins to heartbreaking losses to wild knockouts and gigantic paydays.
Now, Hooker has hinted that he desires to run it again.
On Twitter at this time (Wed., Sept 25, 2024), Hooker wrote “rematch.”
The one-word tweet is almost definitely a response to Poirier’s tweet yesterday, “Trilogy?” which hints at a 3rd combat with Justin Gaethje. Or possibly a correct trilogy with Conor McGregor, though it might technically be their fourth.
Nonetheless, when Poirier received wind of Hooker requesting a rematch, “The Diamond” wrote, “You do not really need that @danthehangman.”
After Poirier’s final combat towards Islam Makhachev, which he misplaced through submission (watch highlights), the longer term UFC Corridor of Famer flirted with retirement; nonetheless, after his tweets, it appears to be like like he’s coming again for a swan music … and a combat with Hooker could be violent and epic.
Hooker is coming off a bloody break up choice win over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305 and is ranked No. 5 within the Light-weight division.
