Wayne Alan Harrison, who was lively within the Maryland Thoroughbred racing and breeding business for a few years, handed away Aug. 7 surrounded by his household and mates. He was 75.
A resident of Rockville, Md., and a local of Montgomery County, Harrison attended Churchill Excessive College in Potomac and later graduated highschool from Greenbrier Navy academy in West Virginia. He then went on to graduate from West Virginia Wesleyan School in 1974. He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity and through his time at Wesleyan Harrison turned a founding member of the faculty’s rugby staff.
After graduating, Harrison returned to the Washington, D.C., space to work for HT Harrison & Sons roofing firm, which on the time was owned by his father, W.T. Harrison, and his uncles. He  would later go on to run the corporate as its Chief Govt Officer.
Harrison owned a number of Maryland-bred stakes winners in partnership with Katy Voss and the late Robert Manfuso, together with Corvus, who received the Maryland Million Nursery in 2015; Las Setas, who captured the Huge Nation Stakes, Past the Wire Stakes and Weber Metropolis Miss Stakes in 2016; and Saratoga Bob, who was victorious within the 2018 Maryland Million Basic. All three have been bred by Manfuso and Voss–who skilled them–of Chanceland Farm in West Friendship, Md.
Harrison additionally owned 1995 Maryland Million Basic winner Good Patriot in partnership with Lawrence Pomerantz. He co-bred a yearling out of Las Setas.
“His highlights have been successful the Maryland Million Basic,” Voss stated. “He was good mates with jockey Edgar Prado, and was very excited when he rode Saratoga Bob within the Basic. Wayne used to return out to the farm and he would come to Saratoga after we have been up there. His family and friends have been all concerned.”
